This week in reading , we will begin reading our anchor book Where is Home, Little Pip? We will work on identifying characters and building comprehension skills through this book as we discuss safety.
We will be focusing on fire safety in class as well and will be reading mini books related to this topic. We encourage you to discuss this at home with your children and to check to see that you have working smoke detectors in your own houses. In math, we will be working on counting groups of objects and determining which group has a greater number of objects. In religion, we will continue learning about treating others properly and respectfully.
This Thursday, October 21 , we will be holding virtual parent conferences. I will send you a Dojo message with the Zoom link and the time that I am scheduling our conferences. Since I have over 30 conferences that day and only three hours to meet with all the parents in class, I ask that you sign onto the Zoom link at the assigned time and to understand that these conferences will only be between five to ten minutes long and to be patient if we are not on schedule.
When you sign onto the Zoom link, you will be in the ‘waiting area’ while I am meeting with another parent, then when I am finished with one parent, I will meet with you. If you have any questions, please let me know.
There will be next school on Friday, October 22 as the teachers will be having a conference day.
I strongly suggest that you send your child to school with more than one face mask to wear daily. Some of the children are struggling with keeping the mask on and get uncomfortable when the masks are wet and look to replace the mask they are wearing with a dry one.
Also, be sure to send in a sufficient amount of water each day for your child to keep them properly hydrated. Thanks.
